Is the band experienced? 

Yes, New Hollywood has worked continuously since 1985 and has done well over 3000 shows. They have performed at weddings, corporate parties, dances, nightclubs, conventions, fundraisers, festivals and private parties. Their experience means that you will enjoy an evening of great entertainment. They will interact with your group to achieve maximum FUN!

How do I find out if you’re available for our date?

Fill out our price quote form or call 416-409-2140 and speak to us directly.

Will the band be too loud?

No! A band can drive guests away with excessive volume. As opposed to many bands, who try and do their own sound while performing, we carry a full time technician. He makes sure the sound is high fidelity at any volume. He is also hearing what the guests are hearing and not guessing from the stage. The wrong volume can ruin an event. Music should never overwhelm a guest; volume should be just right for the dance floor, but also right for people conversing away from the dance floor. We also encourage our clients to let our sound technician know if they feel the sound is not perfect.

Can New Hollywood keep everyone happy?

Yes! they strive to please everyone from the youngest kid to the eldest grandparent. The band specializes in performing hits, songs that everyone knows. They have a mix of party favorites, latest hits, classic dance and classic ballads.

Will the songs sound like the originals?

Yes! Your favorite songs will sound just the way you remember them.

This is not a jam session.

They are called “Hits” for a reason.

When do you set up?

They always arrive early before your event begins to get all our equipment loaded in, set up, thoroughly tested and ready to go before the arrival of your first guests.

Can you make announcements for us during your performance?

Yes, no problem

How long does the band perform? How long are the sets?

Our standard pricing is based on the band playing over a time span of up to four hours in length. The most requested time period is 9 pm to 1 am, although it can be any four hours you choose, such as 8 to 12, 7:30 to 11:30 ect… The timing and length of the sets are flexible depending on the flow of the evening and the needs of each event, but usually the band performs 2 sets with 1 break or 3 sets with 2 breaks, unless otherwise requested.

What happens when the band is on break?

The band includes DJ services, we carry latest and greatest hits that start the minute we stop. You get the very best of both what a DJ and live band can bring to your event.

Do we need to feed the band?

Most times the band will need to eat because they are set-up before dinner. But the price of 6 or 7 more plates can be quite expensive. Feeding the band is appreciated but not mandatory. Most of our quotes are all inclusive and the band’s meals are worked into the price.

How far will you travel?

The band will travel anywhere; our main area is the Greater Toronto Area and 2 hours in any direction. Price will include distance.

Can we see you perform at a wedding or special event?

Unfortunately, no. It is band policy not to ask clients if they can bring other prospective clients to their events. They do play public events that you can attend. You will not be disappointed!

What are the band’s power requirements?

Ideally they like to use 2 or 3 outlets on separate circuits.

Does the band perform outdoors?

Yes

Can we use your P.A. system for speeches and presentations?

Yes

Can we use our own DJ in addition to the services you offer?

Yes, and they are welcome to patch into our P.A. system. 

Can we provide our own music during breaks?

Yes, you may supply CD or bring you own ipod to hook into P.A. system.

Can we make requests from your songlists?

Yes

What equipment do you provide?

New Hollywood brings a full sound system and lighting to all their events (the only exception is venues that require the band to use the in house sound system, lighting and technicians). The equipment is first rate and designed to give you high fidelity at a comfortable volume. They also provide stage lights to illuminate the band. They always have a full DJ set-up to play background and dance music whenever the band is not performing. They also provide you with access to our CD player should there be any special music that you wish to play during your event.

How many musicians are in the band?

New Hollywood is comprised of 6 members, plus a technician who make up the foundation of the band. Damian and Dave are the founders of the band and brothers. Damian is the all round entertainer. His job description would probably read: lead singer, MC, joke man, group activity instructor. Brother Dave plays keyboards and shares lead vocal duties. His vocal range is incredible. Laura Johansen is the female, she enhances the sound of the band by performing the songs that call for female vocals. Rick plays guitar and sings back-ups and has been with New Hollywood the longest. Todd plays drums and sings; he came to the band with 15 years experience. Manny is the rookie, 10 years experience as a Bass player.  Marc is the sound technician and has been with Damian and Dave from the start. His knowledge of the band ensures that the band sound is consistant regardless of how big or small the venue. They perform many of the events as a six piece band but can add a horn section if requested.

I have known New Hollywood for around 20 years, the first time I heard them play I was blown away by their performance, they are a great cover band. They sound very much like the original artists. They also play great dancing/party tunes. Damian has a certain charm with an audience. He really knows how to capture their attention. His brother Dave has a spectacular voice and is amazing hitting those high notes. The rest of the guys in the band connect really well too. New Hollywood just did our Christmas party. I’m in cahrge of organizing it. I’ve never received so many comments about it being the best party over the 10 years at Oriana Financial Group. I believe New Hollywood was responsible for that. The dance floor was packed at all times. They also had a new addition, a woman who adds a nice touch. She’s got an extraordinary voice and really compliments the band. If your looking for a band with pizzaz, great dance music and good party….you can’t go wrong with New Hollywood!

Last night was a marvel.  People overflowing the dance floor, some dancing outside the tent.  I can’t get “Brown Eyed Girl” out of my head.  If we need something again I will contact you.  I asked everyone I talked to what they thought of the band and the comments were unanimously favourable.  We had good weather, good food and terrific music.  I think some people danced to everything you played.  The staff were very cooperative.  I have found if you treat them fairly, they will bend over backwards to ensure everything works out. Engaging, versatile, in tune with audience (variety of ages). 6 piece band with 2 excellent singers. Careful not to lose momentum that they worked so hard to build (very aware of what tempo and style brought the crowd to their feet). Audience just kept on dancing, eventually spilled off dance floor onto the grass and sidewalks. Connected with the audience, welcomed requests.

Our four groups, Addison On Bay, Addison On Dundas, Addison Leasing and Meadow Mills have been together for our Christmas party for the past three years. We are usually a tough crowd to get up on the dance floor and the party is generally slow with the exceptions on a few party animals. This year I cannot believe the difference. The dance floor was packed from the very first note played and everyone was a party animal this year.

The music was fantasic; it had a bit of everything which suited our crowd. I cannot remember as many compliments on the band as I have had this year. I have been planning our parties for 21 years and it is such a pleasure to hear nothing but good comments on the entertainment.

We are writing this letter to express our gratitude and thanks to Damian Niccols of the New Hollywood band for providing the entertainment for Bell Canada’s Christmas Dinner & Dance.

The success of this evening largely depends on the entertainment. It is the main ingredient of our event. The New Hollywood’s deliver a high powered, lively show that keeps our folks on the dance floor the entire evening. Each band member is an excellent musician in his own right, but put them together on the same stage and they deliveran incredible sound, from soft music to rock, it doesn’t seem to matter. The band becomes intimate with the audience as Damian will sing a few of his songs whilst he mingles with the crowd on the dance floor, often asking several of the folks to join in and sing with him. This personal touch is genuine and inevitably wins the hearts of his audience.

Thank you! Our goal to have a great wedding was completed when you and your fellow band members of New Hollywood started to entertain. We wanted to party and dance, we got to party and dance thanks to you. The song selection as promised was perfect. Thanks for making our wedding such a great memory for all who attended. The Italian contingency that attended were phoning Italy raving about our wedding and the band that played.

For others who may read this, we had the privilege to have the most amazing band play at our wedding. New Hollywood was more than just a band, they were entertainers! Damain and team paid very close attention to make our wedding the best ever and to keep us centre stage. They are wedding planners, they are patient, they are flexible, they are cooperative, they are interactive, they are are fun, they are incredible entertainers, they are truly professionals who enjoy very much what they do. We can’t thank you enough for the job you and the band did at our wedding on January 14th. We had a blast and you helped make our wedding the best wedding for many of our guests. New Hollywood was able to cater to an old and young crowd. You immersed yourself with our guests and let them become part of your world.
